“Congress
has more fiction in it in a day, than best selling writers do in a lifetime,”
said Will Rogers, who could have been describing the current situation with The
January 6th commission.
Other
writers such as Charles Dickens might better describe Pelosi’s commission the
pages of his classic “Tale of Two Cities,” since the commission is so much like
those formed in the aftermath of the French Revolution.
You
can almost expect the Democrats to break out the guillotine and start lopping
off heads of anybody who dares to challenge the results of the 2020 election or
admits he or she (or it) still likes Trump and might vote for him again.
But a
more accurate comparison might well be made to the post-civil war when abolitionists
seized control federal government (after trying and failing to impeach the
president who wanted to stop them) and began a systematic destruction of the
already humiliated South, rooting out traitors, and forcing them to swear loyalty
oaths at a time when they were losing farms and homes to federally impose
reparation payments.
Pelosi
and her January 6th commission are determined to destroy anyone who dares question
the results of the 2020 election and worse destroy all the supporters for
Donald Trump -- as demonstrated by the prosecution of former New York City
mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
His
continued questioning of the election has been a thorn in the side of the Biden
Administration that is desperate to find legitimacy.
“It
takes years in this country to tell whether anybody is right or wrong,” Rogers
wrote back in the 1930s, “It’s kinder a case of just how far ahead you can see.
The fellow that can only see a week ahead is always going to be the popular
fellow, for his is looking with the crowd. But the one that can see year ahead,
he has a telescope, but he can’t make anybody believe he has it.”
Giuliani,
who as a telescope focused on what happened in the 2020 election and is
terrified it will happen again if he does not expose it, has become a thorn in
the side of the Biden Administration you can't have somebody as prominent as Giuliani
any asking the wrong questions.
None
of this is new. Back in the 1960s, the FBI frequently arrested protestors just
as they have done with the January 6th crowd, determine to destroy some insurrection
movement the authorities claimed these protestors represented.
We
even had a show trial must like the one Pelosi is putting on for our
entertainment – clearly, she realizes that with Broadway closed down due to
COVID – she needs to find alternative entertainment for the general public, and
no comedy is nearly so successful as what goes on in congress, even if the results
always end up tragic.
The most famous show
trial of the 1960s was that of the Chicago 7 which included my friend Abbie
Hoffman, who invited me to join him in protesting at the Democratic National
Convention. Fortunately, Hoffman had a sense of humor and was able to
demonstrate just what a travesty of justice the trial was.
Just as the January 6
commission is a travesty.
The
January 6th protest is so reminiscent of the takeover of Columbia University in
1968 that it is ludicrous to think that it was an insurrection.
That
event so much a duplicate of what happened on January 6 you could substitute pictures
from that event and think you were looking at the event on Jan. 6, right down
to the protestor sitting in the seat of the House Speaker. Ironically, my
friend who was photographed sitting at the desk of the Columbia president
(smoking a cigar) later became one of the chief poetry critics for the New York
Times. I was not arrested. But many of my friends were. And beaten by police.
One friend, who later became my writing professor at a college in New Jersey,
was one of the protestors clinging to the windows of Columbia University,
sharing the sill with another friend of mine, Allen Ginsberg.
While media and Democrats are desperate to paint the protesters in
January 6th into some sort of terrorists, their actions were not nearly as deplorable
as some of those committed in the 1960s by groups such as the Black Panthers or
the Weather Underground, who actually attempted to blow up banks and kidnap
people – managing to be so incompetent as to blow themselves up in one of their
own buildings in the East Village – from which one lone survivor fled (I hid
him out for several months until he was sure the FBI thought he was dead with
the others.)
The
question is why are Democrats so desperate
to make January 6 into something it is not.
This suggests that
they are scared to death of something more significant being exposed.
In
some ways, the January 6th commission appears to be what psychologists call “projection.”
This
is a condition in which a person or entity blames someone else where what he himself
as done.
So,
if the Democrats are so over the top in claiming the GOP tried to overthrow the
government, maybe they are projecting onto the GOP something they themselves have
done.
This
may explain why they are desperate to silence anybody who raises questions about
the validity of the election, and whether or not Democrats – some of whom had stock
and other ties to the tabulating software company – manipulated the vote count
to swing the election from Trump to Biden (and may have tested this system
earlier when Biden suddenly came from behind to win the nomination against
Bernie Sanders.)
Many
of the questions remain unanswered.
And the Democratic resistance to allowing a serious and legitimate
reexamination of the votes in battle ground states seems suspicious. If they are
so confident in the results, why are they putting up so many roadblocks to stop
a legitimate examination?
Defenders of the election claimed that there was
no cheating and that there had been recounts but the recounts were generally
superficial often failing to actually look at whether or not voter fraud took
place.
When GOP
went to the court, frequently the court refused to look at evidence often
dismissing the cases on technical grounds.
The only legitimate recount is happening in
Arizona and the Democrats are throwing up every kind of road block possible to
prevent an honest assessment of what happened there.
It's a Democrats have nothing to hide then why
are they hiding things such as the codes needed to actually access the machines
which tabulate the votes?
Why are the Democrats doing everything possible
to dismantle the count before the results are in.?
You would think that if they believe the
election is legitimate they would do everything possible to help the counters
prove that.
Meanwhile,
the Democrats trying to discredit anyone who asks anything about the election,
and it are holding a show trial of protesters as a distraction.
Do the Democrats know something about the 2020
election results they are not telling us, or they are scared to death will find
out about.
