Like a rehash
of the Star Wars movies when Darth Vader has his short time victory, the
Democrats have called on one media’s patron saints to help save the election.
Bob Woodward is
part of the Abbott and Costello journalist team who came to fame in the Watergate
investigation when they worked with remnants of the Kennedy clan to help bring
down President Richard Nixon.
To understand the
dynamic behind Watergate, you have to understand that the paper’s publisher,
Graham was in bed with Democrats, the paper’s editor, Ben Bradlee had helped
leak information to the Kennedy Administration during his time as Newsweek editor,
and at least some of the sources feeding the dynamic duo were connected with Kenney
lawyers at that time representing Dean – the man who orchestrated the Watergate
coverup.
Woodward has
always been a political stooge – and a questionable journalist, going so far as
to invent whole chapters about the underground garage and moveable flowerpot in
his Watergate years, later to pen book after book of which the accuracy was often
questioned.
Woodward is notorious
for getting stuff wrong – taking information and twisting it into things that
aren’t true – a perfect icon to the modern journalist in an era when
misinformation has become an art form.
Democrats bring
out Woodward each time they need to bring in the big guns.
Last week, the
Democrats dragged out Carl Bernstein to help save a fake story in The Atlantic.
This week, they are dragging Woodward out of mothballs in order to save their failing
Covid-19 narrative.
Woodward
claimed the Trump tried to play down COVID-19 and knew that there could be as
many as 200,000 deaths.
Of course, at
the time, the CDC was projecting possible American deaths in a range from
200,000 to 1.7 million – figures that had media going crazy with overhyping the
virus and clearly creating a panic in the United States that had even the most
stout-hearted hiding under their beds.
It is hard to
tell whether or not Trump intended to down play the virus total deaths because
media was so over playing, or whether like many of us, we didn’t see COVID-19
as the black plague media was playing it to be. In truth, statistically, the
1969 pandemic was far worse as far as U.S. deaths.
Media needs
Woodward to get the country to blame Trump for the deaths rather than the Democratic
governors who sent many senior citizens to their deaths and failed to provide
protection to the most vulnerable people.
The president
plays never little role in these things since most of the struggle in on a
state level, where state Departments of Health are responsible for the response.
Indeed, Obama and Biden thought so little of the 2009 pandemic they waited nine
months to declare a state of emergency, and only after the virus has spread to
46 states.
I wonder where
Woodward was for that one.
Bringing out
Woodward is about as believable as The Atlantic story. Even if the information Woodward
is providing us is true, the fact is the burden of health is on the governors
of the states in whose hands the medical operations actually transpired.
But Woodward
being Woodward evokes the Watergate – which is the Democratic wet dream when
they managed to do to Nixon what they are desperate to do to Trump.
The problem is
Woodward is no longer believable. Too many people have shown how sloppy his
work is and he no longer has the same kind of audience he once had, even though
the WOKE crowd is likely to believe anything the Washington Post prints.
Democrats in
their frenzy to find another Russian conspiracy to hang on the shoulders of
Trump have basically created one more dirty trick, hiding it under the questionable
reputation of a has-been reporter, and hoping that Woodward’s status in
sainthood will convince the public that he is telling the truth this time, when
it is clear he never has in the past.
